THE GALLERY OF MARIA MONIKOWSKA-TABISZ

"The cycle of pastels created for years by Maria Monikowska-Tabisz is contemporary painting psalter. This is travel to origins of prayer; to real arche, that is judaic and christian roots, where expressive chant and ritual gesture may become source of inspiration of colourful tones and vivid gesture. (...) Psalter of Maria Monikowska-Tabisz is painting with pastels. Painting, not drawing. Basing the future structure of paint composition on foundation of colourful patch, expressive painting blotch being like of frozen liquid consistency. (...) Light sinks into surface of painting and arises unexpectedly in other places."

"[...] Cycle of paintings 'Apocalypse' is also cultural phenomenon. We believe that 'Apocalypse' is one of the most valuable work of art of 20th century, which are exposed in the capital city of voivodeship. Since we understand the presence of paintings of M. Monikowska-Tabisz as common treasure of the city, we would like the paintings to be more and more known and admitted as welfare. [...]"

"Themes of Monikowska-Tabisz's paintings are concerned with maternity, love and nativ land. The values expressed in her paintings are not fortuitous. The inspiration of christianity may be felt in all the paintings, not only those concerning sacred themes."

"Your paintings may be found In many Polish churches. Most of facsimiles of Mary, produced by You, are placed - by means of father Jan Golonka (Jasna Gora custodian) - in foreign priestly institutions. [...] Certainly, it is hard to reveal the atmosphere of sanctity and attention; to expose the might, which is embraced not only in tradition of cult, but also in the painting as in work of art."
